Dani_man Posted March 30, 2016 at 07:16 PM Report Posted March 30, 2016 at 07:16 PM A funded research project (currently in Leiden university in The Netherlands) is developing a unique markup tool of classical Chinese. The tool, named MARKUS, runs on the browser and is aimed mainly at people who are engaged in high level reading of classical Chinese and who usually need to use various indices and references to interpret the text. With the tool you can, for example, highlight titles of the Chinese officialdom, places as well as names based on the time of the text (according to the dynasty). There are many other features that I am yet to explore and other integrations to 3rd party databases. You can try the beta version here: http://dh.chinese-empires.eu/beta/ Not for the occasional leisure reader I'd say, but definitely for the advanced/researcher. I think it's remarkable that such an app is shared online for public use! 3 Quote
Angelina Posted March 30, 2016 at 07:27 PM Report Posted March 30, 2016 at 07:27 PM I can get you in touch with Chinese scholars working with classical Chinese, unfortunately, I have decided to give up doing research with the Chinese language myself. Quote
