But then something else is not quite clear to me (and it is not about the language): According to the example sentence, people who are 爱国激情正高 did not like hearing that song (do I get it correctly?). Is it the perception of the people that "if you have high patriotic feelings, you shouldn't like and listen to to erotic folk songs"? (According to mdbg, 小调 is also "a Chinese folk song genre")

I don't have specific information on this, but I can see it make sense. A good patriotic youth is pure, that kind of thinking. He (of course he) doesn't waste his time and energy on porn or erotic songs but always seeks to better himself for the good of the motherland. Much as a good patriot doesn't do drugs or gamble.
