New Members Ian W. Posted April 15, 2016 at 01:39 PM New Members Report Posted April 15, 2016 at 01:39 PM I recieved an email full of unicode this morning. Here is what it says. I have never seen characters as complex as these. I have tried even getting a basic grasp from google translate but it will not even go through. I have taken chinese so I recognize some of the simpler characters such as "yue" inside of these but their complexity is stumping me. Does anyone know what this is? I don't need a translation because it will not be quick and that is what this board is intended for but if anyone could tell me whether this is mandarin, where to find a place to translate, etc. I would appreciate it.
TheBigZaboon Posted April 16, 2016 at 12:22 AM Report Posted April 16, 2016 at 12:22 AM I am not an expert, and there are enough on the forum that they will surely chime in with more correct information, but I think it is a "look up" table. I am guessing, but I assume character codes may be assigned to characters based on frequency, and less frequently used characters are pushed to the upper end of the list because they are called and displayed less often. If you look closely, you may see that there's groupings of characters with similar radicals followed by a variety of secondary components. In the transmission of your message, maybe the system lost count of where the per-character string starts and ends, and spit up the look-up table by mistake... I am sitting safe and sound in Tokyo watching the people of Kumamoto get the crap kicked out of them on live tv by unceasing aftershocks since Thursday. Now it seems the volcano Asozan, has decided to get involved. Quote
889 Posted April 16, 2016 at 12:34 AM Report Posted April 16, 2016 at 12:34 AM Without taking the time to look this up, I'll guess that it's a partial list of characters with a certain number of strokes, arranged by radical. Quote
