Chapter 7 might be what you are looking for but If I was you I would read the table of contents and decide for yourself which suits your needs.

First off, you're being way too ambitious with that sentence. Second, look at the examples you posted in your first post. There aren't any with 由于 in the middle of the sentence, but that's what you've done.

Shorter, simpler sentences, modelled very closely on examples you've seen in textbooks or dictionaries or something.

You guys are giving quite good advices. :)
@Angela, one my teachers back in Bulgaria (aka in high school) was a Bulgarian (go figure) who studied at Beida in 1963. Aka 黄金时代。 Now I am studying undergraduate @ 中文系 in Beida, so my teachers are no longer "Bulgarian" but rather Chinese, "ha".

Sorry if the books I've referred to are quite hard (tbh I don't even think so, their difficulty is that they are written in Chinese), but their logic is very clear.

最近在当地社区反对在应该区新建住房由于担心房价。

The "mistake" here is  which ones goes infront, which goes afterwards (as your friends say it's structurally wrong) as it should be 由于担心房价,最近在当地社区反对在应该去新建住房。 (using exactly your sentence to be clear, the second part needs some more practice, but the point here is what you say ahead, what you say afterwards. If you wanted to use your structure, you'd better try using 之所以....,是因为/是由于.....。

I guess it's necessary to learn sentence patterns(句式句型) if you wanna make complex sentences. I clearly remember that all the students of the same grade had to make many sentences with given conjunctions / conjunction pairs in elementary school in order to learn the sentence patterns; and we still did relevant exercises in middle school. It's rather easy to make errors with some conjunctions / conjunction pairs/patterns. 是...的缘故, 由于...的原因[wrong], 因为...的原因[wrong], 之所以...原因是[improper, weird or informal], ...

最近在当地社区反对在应该区新建住房由于担心房价

The sentence is odd. It'll make sense if it's 最近在当地社区人们反对在该区新建住房由于担心房价---- even this is syntactically wrong. 最近在当地社区,人们反对在该区新建住房,由于担心房价(下跌) // 由于担心房价,最近在当地社区人们反对在该区新建住房, both are syntactically proper.

The OP gave a pretty good list summarizing conjunctions for causal relations. It's a great start!

I've had a little bit more time to return to this and noticed some of the errors I've been making. For example there are some conjunctions which need to go before the verb 为了. A few orders have been made for the books that have been mentioned. There is a decent-ish post regarding the 330 patterns – which I will follow-up with.

@Angelina

previously you said “Consider discourse markers too.” Can you explain your meaning?

Are there any good 句型 resources online?

well, 句型 do not really work with teaching discourse markers
