New Members RobertMS Posted April 21, 2016 at 08:21 PM New Members Report Posted April 21, 2016 at 08:21 PM Ni Hao, Yesterday, April 21, I arrived at Terminal 3 for a US departure flight. In my rush, I left my camera in its case in the back of the taxi. Does anyone know of how to reach the Beijing Taxi central office or if they have a lost and found department? Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks Quote
imron Posted April 21, 2016 at 11:23 PM Report Posted April 21, 2016 at 11:23 PM Did you get a taxi receipt? If so, the receipt will have the taxi company's phone number as well as the driver/cab identification. If you can't read the Chinese, scan it in and I'm sure someone will be able to help you with the details. 1 Quote
889 Posted April 21, 2016 at 11:57 PM Report Posted April 21, 2016 at 11:57 PM This came up a few years ago. Note Post 5. http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/10658-filing-a-police-report/ And what do you know, there's now even a web listing of found property: http://www.bjgaj.gov.cn/swzl/ Quote
vellocet Posted April 22, 2016 at 06:26 AM Report Posted April 22, 2016 at 06:26 AM Unless you have the receipt you're probably screwed. The driver probably didn't even notice the lost item until the next passenger got in. Quote
889 Posted April 22, 2016 at 06:46 AM Report Posted April 22, 2016 at 06:46 AM The Airport has its own Lost Property Office: http://www.bcia.com.cn/server/service/lostfound.shtml As for taxis, as best I can gather there's no central Taxi Lost Property Office; you have to know the taxi company involved and contact them directly, or try to contact all the taxi companies. Perhaps they turn lost property over to the police at some point. Or perhaps not. Most web posts on Chinese sites are not encouraging. Quote
Angelina Posted April 22, 2016 at 01:49 PM Report Posted April 22, 2016 at 01:49 PM Something similar happened to someone I know, she had no idea which taxi company it was. We went to Beijing Airport to see if their security cameras had caught her get into the taxi, maybe see the licence plates. They were really nice and helpful, let us check the tapes. We saw her get into the taxi, however, it was impossible to see the licence plates, not even find out what taxi company it was. The video was too blurry. Someone suggested some radio station Beijing taxi drivers listen to, you can pay for them to broadcast your message. The more you pay, the more times they will broadcast it. She decided not to do it because she did not see much hope in doing that. I don't know more about that option. Maybe someone else can give you more information if you want to try that. 1 Quote
