onebir Posted April 27, 2016 at 01:54 PM Report Posted April 27, 2016 at 01:54 PM I know of two recent cases where scans of JW202 forms & university admission letters were accepted by Chinese consulates (Chiang Mai & Tel Aviv) in support of X1 visa applications. In Chiang Mai high-quality colour printouts were provided. In Tel Aviv consular staff accepted a black and white printout. They suggested seeing a high-res scan of the form/letter on a phone at visa application/pickup time would be helpful, but didn't require it in the end. YMMV, but if snailmail would create too much delay or risk (eg due to unreliable postal services), it's worth checking* if a scan would be acceptable. For applications in person it's worth bringing a scan on a phone/tablet; by post perhaps an accompanying email would do the trick. *Which may involve a trip to the consulate, this is not always easy by phone...
