onebir Posted May 23, 2016 at 01:25 PM Report Posted May 23, 2016 at 01:25 PM These are (mostly?) for students from the "One Belt One Road" countries, apparently: Afghanistan Albania Armenia Azerbaijan Bahrain Bangladesh Belarus Bhutan Bosnia and Herzegovina Brunei Bulgaria Cambodia Croatia Cyprus Czech Egypt Estonia Georgia Greece Honduras Hungary India Indonesia Iran Iraq Israel Jordan Kazakhstan Kuwait Kyrgyzstan Laos Latvia Lebanon Macedonia Malaysia Maldives Moldova Montenegro Myanmar Nepal Oman Pakistan Palestine Philippines Poland Qatar Romania Russia Saudi Arabia Serbia Singapore Slovak Slovenia Sri Lanka Syria Tajikistan Thailand Turkey Turkmenistan Ukraine United Arab Emirates Uzbekistan Vietnam Yemen HK has (controversially) allocated HK$1bn (US$130m) for these: http://www.scmp.com/news/hong-kong/education-community/article/1901329/hong-kong-education-secretary-defends-hk1b No idea how much has been (/will be?) allocated in Mainland China. At present only two mainland unis seem to offer them - and under quite different terms: Qinghai Nationalities Uni and Sichuan Uni. Judging from the HK allocation significant funding could be available, and the scholarships could well be undersubscribed (at least for a while). So for Balkan/Central European/Middle Eastern/Central, South & SE Asian/anywhere I missed folks, it might worth keeping an eye out for these turning up at Chinese unis you're interested in. 2 Quote
