Chinese poem?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I found this inscription on a lacquer box that I purchased. I initially thout that it was a Japanese Haiku but have since been advised that it is most likely a Chinese poem. t would be great if someone could translate it for me, I would love to know what it says.

Thanks for any help

I just try and I hope somebody can correct me.

Hmm, it looks like 紫微东陈排云去,苍灵西风叫月动in simplified version or紫微東陳排雲去,蒼靈西風叫月動 in traditional version.

紫微:In traditional Taoist culture, it is the name for Big Dipper.

苍灵:In traditional Taoist culture, it is the name for some constellation.

So the meaning might be: Ziwei turning to east drive the clouds away; the west wind from Cangling urges the moon move.

Thanks! 8)

Thank you for your help studentyoung, this is very helpful. The picture on the front of the box is geese flying past the moon so that fits with your translation.

Thanks again
