Headhunters: True or Fake?

Hi everyone.

I would like to know your opinion about something that just happened to me. I am a teacher looking for teaching jobs in China and it happened that I get to know this guy eventually on a job seeker web site. At the beginning he asked me to send the usual documents to him (resume or c.v.) and, what I believe is a little more unusual, an introductory video about myself. "nothing important, just an informal video which you can prove your english level". I did not feel comfortable since the start. Call me suspicious...or maybe i do not like to be called buddy, mate, pal and so on by someone that I did not know at all and presumed to be professional.

I just made up and excuse and he started to talk me about a different business. Then he told me that he he worked as headhunter and if I recommend another teacher to contact him, he/his company would pay me once my recommended teachers were hired. 2000 rmb per one...

I am not interested at all on it, however i would like to know your opinion: is it possible that Chinese schools pay such amount of money to an intermediate to hire teachers when the school itself can find plebty fo English teachers directly? (if it is supposed i would earn 2k yuan per recommendation, the employer another 2k and i asume the company at least triple, so the total amount 10.000 rmb).

Apologies for the long text and thanks for your opinion.

It's feasible - agents finding teachers could easily be getting a month's salary from the school, so 2k to you makes sense. Whether this particular guy is legit or not, who knows. Schools often struggle to find teachers themselves.
