Thanks everyone.  He has found an Airbnb from a student who also went to Renmin.  I think she is more open minded.  She has seen his picture and reviews so it should hopefully be ok.  We should know by August 6th when he move in.  He also speaks enough Chinese to get around.  He says the key was saying he went to Renmin.  He is a neat freak so there should be no cleaning issues.  Thank You for your assistance Zhouhaochen.

Hello everyone and thanks for all the advice.  My son was able to secure an Airbnb from a woman who was also a student at Renmin.  My son tells me that credibility is everything here in China.  He was trusted because of his affiliation with the university.  It is a Chinese apartment, so quite different from what we do in the United States, but I am always happy to see how other people live so I thoroughly enjoyed myself.  We also visited the English Corner, held every Friday evening at Renmin, where Chinese folks learning English are encouraged to meet with native speakers to improve their English speaking skills.  Many people came to talk to us and were happy for the exchange.  I know racism is a problem, but what I teach my son is that you wake people up ONE person at a time.  I think we accomplished that on our trip.
