TLD1000 Posted July 1, 2016 at 10:22 PM Report Posted July 1, 2016 at 10:22 PM Hi, I am an American traveling to Beijing this August. Does anyone know of any decent hotels that would cater to American tastes, or at least won't shock an American? Quote
Mouseneb Posted July 2, 2016 at 08:12 AM Report Posted July 2, 2016 at 08:12 AM Beijing has many international five star hotels. Quote
889 Posted July 2, 2016 at 09:06 AM Report Posted July 2, 2016 at 09:06 AM The question's just too broad. You need to give some indication of budget and where in Beijing you want to be. Also, do you need a hotel that provides the sort of services business travellers need, or is this for vacation or study? In any event, there are hundreds of hotels in Beijing. I find the various sites like Agoda, booking.com, ctrip and elong very useful for reviews. Use an online translator if necessary for the reviews on the last two sites. In general, hotel standards in China have improved quite a bit since Mao died, and you're unlikely to be really unhappy. Quote
onebir Posted July 2, 2016 at 04:43 PM Report Posted July 2, 2016 at 04:43 PM There are quite a few big sub 5 star hotel chains that are even pretty cheap (eg RMB100 a night in small cities; maybe more in Beijing etc). Perhaps people can suggest a few worth considering? Quote
889 Posted July 2, 2016 at 04:49 PM Report Posted July 2, 2016 at 04:49 PM The Jinjiang Group runs a full range of hotels, from five-star to budget. I've always found them professionally managed. http://hotels.jinjiang.com/ But there are so many alternatives. 1 Quote
ChTTay Posted July 3, 2016 at 04:45 AM Report Posted July 3, 2016 at 04:45 AM At the very budget end ... Super 8! They won't speak English but I always found the rooms to be fine. Very basic but clean. 1 Quote
Saxondale Posted July 4, 2016 at 12:54 PM Report Posted July 4, 2016 at 12:54 PM Super 8, 7 Days Inn, Hanting, Wenxin Rujia - all are decent budget hotel chains dotted all over Beijing. Quote
