Hi there,

Yes you can apply for Confucius Scholarship again, as long as it is not the same one that you have already received. In the past 4 years, I have received a One Month and One Semester Scholarship. This year I have now received a One Year Scholarship for September :)

You should have no problem applying for a different Confucius Scholarship when you go back to your home country. I have even heard that they are more likely to give you another scholarship if you have already received one, as it shows you are really interested in China/Chinese/Culture!

Best of luck :)

Oh my God im so happy reading your comment :) thank you very much for the information. Im so afraid can’t apply for the scholaship again but your comment make me so relax now. hahaha.

What do you think if i submit the HSK level 4 and HSKK Intermediate for One Academic Year + MTCSOL later? while they ask for HSK level 3 and HSKK Elementary. Is it ok? coz i’ll be finishing my Bachelor Degree as soon as possible :D

by the way, where will you study this september? i also will study this september, at Nanchang University, Nanchang, Jiangxi.

I think it is actually better to submit the highest HSK and HSKK level you can, as what they look for is just the minimum. For example, the website says that you need HSK 3 to apply for One Year Scholarship, but my Confucius Institute advised me that I should do HSK 4. because I think they will accept the higher students first.

I will be studying in Fudan Shanghai from September!

Glad I can help :)

So you mean it is ok if i submit the HSK 4 and HSKK Intermediate for the program that i want to choose later? but the MTCSOL program (not One Academic Year + MTCSOL) they ask for HSKK Intermediate more than 50. so if i submit HSKK intermediate more than 50 for One Academic Year + MTCSOL, is it ok right? hahaha i’m still confuse about this scholarship. the point is, we should give our highest test result right? :)

by the way one more question, in the scholarship form, there is a question like, have you ever studied in China? so your answer is a ’yes’?

wow Fudan how luckyyyyyyyyy

As long as you submit the minimum requirement of HSKK and HSK then it is okay! I would always give the highest report score you can get!

Yes, you should tick Yes if you have already studied in China, and will have to give some proof of study such as exam results from that university.

oh i see. how about the universities? you choose different universities to study one semester, four week and one year? or in the same university? did you contact the university first before choose it?

by the way, did ur university already send addmission notice etc?

im not yet receive it

If you submit a HSK certificate that is higher than the minimum then they will choose you over those who have the minimum. Ie, if you submit a HSK4 certificate with a passing grade of 180 then they will choose you over someone who has a HSK3 certificate with a passing grade of 240. However you must get at least 180 if you sit the HSK4 or you will not be issued with the certificate. So if you are not confident you will pass the HSK4, then sit the HSK3.

You might consider continuing to study Chinese after your one year in China alongside finishing your Bachelor degree, because if you can get a good score on HSK5 then you can save yourself a year and apply for the MTCSOL scholarship rather than the one academic year + MTCSOL scholarship. Of course the latter scholarship has the advantage of better preparing you for your MTCSOL studies so it comes down to your preference.

I went to Renmin Beijing Uni for both my One Month and One Semester scholarship, now I will be going to Fudan for the One Year, so you can go to the same or different, it doesn't matter!

No I did it all through my Confucius Institute and didn't contact the Universitys until I was accepted. I have not received my acceptance documents from Fudan yet, but I hope to get them next week!

Hi @Hannahknolan, I found this thread when I was searching for an answer to the same question. Can you tell me where you found the answer? I searched the hanban regulations, but found no mention of it. It makes sense to me, but I just want to know where to find out this kind of information. Thank you!

@jiangshan

Sorry for so long in getting back to you, I didn't see your comment. I know because I did this myself and my Chinese teacher also told me. I have had a Confucius one month, one semester and one year scholarship!

@Hannahknolan Thanks for your reply. It's great you have received all of those scholarships! I am only able to go during the summer, so I was wondering if it was possible to get a 4 week scholarship twice (I got one last year). I still have a lot to learn! But I couldn't find any mention of it on any of the web sites. Anyway, the local CI told me that I couldn't get the 4 week one again.

Hi

I also want to apply for an one year scholarship to study Chinese this September. Can anyone tell me if I need to contact the University first or the Confucius Institute does that?

Hi,

I want to apply the chinese language program for one-sem scholarship but it mention only the teaching, chinese language and literature, and chinese history and philosophy on the CIS 2019/20 procedure. Does that mean that they only offer Chinese language program in the one year scholarship? Can someone also advise me if I have to apply/contact the University first or confucius Institute?

Hi @Rafia, it's been a while since I got my CI scholarship (2017) and requirements may have changed now so be sure to double check this, but when I applied, my CI application coordinator told me that multiple simultaneous applications are not eligible and will be eliminated automatically. I've heard that basically you can apply for several different types of scholarship (eg CI, university scholarship, EU window) and it might work because they won't be able to trace your applications across systems (even though technically you shouldn't do it). But I reckon your CI won't let you apply for two different CI scholarships. The reason for this is that each year, only x amount of scholarships in each category are available, so if you get accepted for more than one and have to down one or several others, you're basically taking away places from other applicants as there is no clearing system.

Best thing to do is just ask your CI though, they will be able to tell you what you can and can't apply for.
