Good recommendations for Chinese writing tablet

My device is android and it has always been like that even when I used the Windows Mobile version.

Edit: To clarify I don't use Touchpal, I use the built in handwriting in Pleco.

@Flickserve, I too use the handwriting function within Pleco like Shelley.

In the Pleco dictionary search in iOS and Android, there is the option to enter the characters you want to find typing letters on the keyboard (for pinyin orEnglish in an E-C search), by radical as in a paper dictionary, or handwriting on the pad that appears on the screen when you click on the search window.

Presumably, this function is enabled when installing Pleco if you haven't used handwriting before, but the user doesn't need to do anything special, It's all done silently by the software.

It sounds like @Flickserve isn't using our handwriting keyboard on either platform, but rather is using the built-in Chinese handwriting keyboard on iOS and a third-party one on Android.

On Android, there's a free Pleco-specific handwriting pad built into our app as well; it's an older version of our recognition engine (from 2004 - same one we used in our Palm app) but still works quite well. Like the iOS system one, it waits for you to tell it you're finished drawing - doesn't fade strokes automatically - so if you're not getting that behavior now and you don't see a 'handwriting' or a paintbrush icon in Pleco, your installation might be corrupted; are you using the latest version of Pleco? Do you see the handwriting add-on listed in the "Features" section of the Add-ons screen under Free?

On both iOS and Android we also offer a more modern handwriting recognizer (about a decade newer, with support for twice as many characters) as a paid add-on.

@mikelove

Thanks for the diagnosis and clarification.

I had never pressed on the paintbrush icon in android so never knew its function.

iOS handwriting has been working quite well so far.
