New Members Landline Posted August 15, 2016 at 12:49 AM New Members Report Share Posted August 15, 2016 at 12:49 AM Hello everyone, Attached is an image of a back of a painting. Could someone help me translate the title, artist name, date, and any other information? I'm assuming the date is May 1992 not sure what the 50 means. thank you
somethingfunny Posted August 16, 2016 at 08:39 AM Report Share Posted August 16, 2016 at 08:39 AM The title is: 收获的季节 Which translates roughly as "The Harvest Season". (Hopefully the front of the painting shows people working in fields). The artist is 朱 jiu 洋. I'm sorry but I can't really make out that middle character. You're probably right about May 1992 and I have no idea what the 50 means.

Shelley Posted August 16, 2016 at 12:56 PM Report Share Posted August 16, 2016 at 12:56 PM Is it a painting or a print? If it is a print it could be no.50 of a limited run. Maybe?
Publius Posted August 16, 2016 at 02:34 PM Report Share Posted August 16, 2016 at 02:34 PM Hmm, maybe it's "SO" for "sold out". Looks different from number 5 at the bottom.
New Members Landline Posted August 16, 2016 at 04:46 PM Author New Members Report Share Posted August 16, 2016 at 04:46 PM Thank you all for the translation. I found the artist. His style has changed a lot since the 90s. Its a painting so dont think the 50 or SO is an edition number. Here is a link to some of his work. The larger piece is similar to the piece I'm asking about. http://www.efifan.com/artwork/detail/7C31DB140154E123.html I thought it may have been by an artist with the Wuming (No Name Group) from the 70s. Though look he was influenced by their work. http://www.aaa.org.hk/Collection/Details/30031 nice little documentary on the No Name https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJQsZecXe3s
