The best approximation is 'lia' for 'lla'.

I'm not convinced, even though all linguists say so.  To my ear  卡西亚斯 is closer to the Spanish pronunciation than  卡西利亚斯.  But what do I know?

Well, I could have grilled her on her language teaching qualifications first, unfortunately, I'm far too polite for all that. Anyway, I'll know for next time. Thanks for the helpful advice.

@ LiMo: Sorry if I sounded acerbic myself, was just trying to do my bit (tongue-in-cheek shtick? LOL) to help keep the party going. :) For really patronizing though I dont think one can beat CELTA-style stuff. :P
