somethingfunny Posted September 16, 2016 at 07:24 AM Report Share Posted September 16, 2016 at 07:24 AM Thats not a term I'm familiar with. Is "Becken" a type of clothing? Or a particular brand?
li3wei1 Posted September 16, 2016 at 08:19 AM Report Share Posted September 16, 2016 at 08:19 AM It's a brand name. In which case, either the company itself will have figured out a Chinese name which it wants to use in marketing its products, and your best bet is to find an official corporate website, or it hasn't yet done so. Translating brand names is a tricky business, and not taken lightly (it shouldn't be taken lightly, anyway). If you're looking for unofficial translations, i.e. people selling second-hand or pirated stuff, and translating the name themselves, there could be any number of ways of transliterating Becken (finding two Chinese syllables that approximate the sound).
Angelina Posted September 16, 2016 at 08:59 AM Report Share Posted September 16, 2016 at 08:59 AM I assume Becken is working for Becken and wants it written in Chinese. edit If you are planning to make any profit from your brand (in one of the international foreign exchange currencies), maybe you should consider paying a translator. Lu Posted September 16, 2016 at 09:19 AM Report Share Posted September 16, 2016 at 09:19 AM The word 'school' in Chinese is 学校. 'School' means 'a place where people go to learn something', and 学校 also means 'a place where people go to learn something'. Similarly, you can translate words like 'run' or 'loyal' or 'republic' or 'etymology', because those words have a certain meaning, so you can translate them using a Chinese word with the same meaning. 'Becken' doesn't have a meaning (to my knowledge), so it can't be translated. It can be transliterated though, which means that you find Chinese characters that sound kind of like 'becken'. 贝肯 beiken for example. However, this does not mean 'becken' because 'becken' doesn't mean anything. 贝肯 means 'shell-affirm' or something along those lines. Now. It's certainly possible to get a brand name in Chinese. Many companies have one. The best way to get a good one is to hire a company who is good at coming up with Chinese brand names. This is expensive, but worthwhile if you want to be succesfull in the Chinese market. If that's your aim, I suggest you find a company like that. If you just want Chinese because it looks cool, I'd advise you to reconsider. As a designer, I'm sure you can come up with other, better ideas for making your things look cool.
Becken Posted September 16, 2016 at 09:40 AM Author Report Share Posted September 16, 2016 at 09:40 AM Hmm.. Yeah i know chinese can mean a lot of thing's. But maybe as you said there is nothing with ^Becken in chinese so that's why you can't translate it. But as you said maybe a company can help me with that. But if it's going to get very expensive i'm not sure if it's worth the work for it. I do like chinese letter's it's so nice on t-shirt and stuff. so that's why i wanted to have that aswell on mine. BUt i don't know if it's more worth to maybe put something else there and then maybe write " Becken wear " in just english then put a chinese symbol for something else. Lu Posted September 16, 2016 at 09:54 AM Report Share Posted September 16, 2016 at 09:54 AM But i don't know if it's more worth to, maybe put something else there and then maybe write "Becken wear" in just English then put a Chinese symbol for something else. That sounds like a much better idea. Make sure you get the right character, and in a nice font.Alternatively, just get some other image or symbol. Chinese characters are not inherently cool, and clothes with random characters often look rather silly to people who can read them (and there are over a billion people who can read them). Angelina Posted September 16, 2016 at 10:19 AM Report Share Posted September 16, 2016 at 10:19 AM There is a Chinese brand called Meters/bonwe. They wanted an English name. Are you interested in selling in China? Think Chinese characters would look nice on your brand? Or both?

Shelley Posted September 16, 2016 at 10:37 PM Report Share Posted September 16, 2016 at 10:37 PM Does Becken mean anything in its original language? Maybe you could use that to come up with something.
