LaoDing Posted September 15, 2016 at 11:55 AM Report Posted September 15, 2016 at 11:55 AM Does anybody know about word-press hosting here in China? I'd like to pay by Union Pay, that's why I ask. Thanks! Quote
imron Posted September 15, 2016 at 01:15 PM Report Posted September 15, 2016 at 01:15 PM If you are hosting the site in China, you'll technically need an ICP number, which might be more hassle than using a different payment method. Quote
LaoDing Posted September 15, 2016 at 05:19 PM Author Report Posted September 15, 2016 at 05:19 PM Thanks! Yes, I heard of the ICP issue. My U.S. bank has so little cash and it's such a hassle to get cash into it, that I was hoping I could pay here. I wonder if there are companies here that can take payment in China but host from Korea or elsewhere... When I figure it out, I'll post the solution. Quote
zhouhaochen Posted September 16, 2016 at 03:13 AM Report Posted September 16, 2016 at 03:13 AM We are hosting our website outside of China, because of both the legal difficulties of having it inside China and also speed issues (which seem to be getting worse at the moment - Chinese sites are very slow abroad and the other way round). A company I know that offers hosting services is http://www.sinosolutions.cn/en/ (they did our website originally and we were quite happy with them), but I am not sure if they just do hosting services for people who's websites they didn't design. The owner is a friend of mine, but as we moved our site abroad we are doing all the hosting etc. now with non-China based companies, so I cannot comment on the quality of their hosting and design services today. LaoDing Posted May 13, 2017 at 06:07 AM Author Report Posted May 13, 2017 at 06:07 AM I successfully hosted a web page (it's not of interest here so I won't list it) and it's accessible everywhere. The only mistake I made was using wordpress.com instead of wordpress.org. I don't think you change without deleting the entire directory and reloading. I also have no solution for the cash issue except for wiring money into a U.S. account. Here's a good page for testing your site: https://www.websitepulse.com/help/testtools.china-test.html Regarding http://www.sinosolutions.cn/en/ , it seems awfully expensive (though they do everything for you- good for a company I suppose), but worse than that their phones have been disconnected. Not too promising, but the site does look good. I wish they had better price menus. Anyway, I'm going to build a new one today, geared for students. Quote
