Popular Post Tianjin42 Posted September 23, 2016 at 12:19 PM Popular Post Report Posted September 23, 2016 at 12:19 PM Peking University will offer HSK courses for free on Corsera starting with level 1 (starting October) and working through to level 6 in sequence. I didn't see this on the forum (Possible that I missed it) but for anyone who wants to get involved I'm sure it will be beneficial. There are a lot of debates on the efficacy of MOOCs but I think a few videos and tips by Yu Bin should be fairly useful if you are considering taking HSK at some point. The WeChat message can be found here. The Corsera page can be found here. Only just seen this but will have a look to see if there are costs such as textbooks students should buy etc. 10 Quote

iand Posted September 24, 2016 at 12:25 AM Report Posted September 24, 2016 at 12:25 AM What does 慕课课程 at the top of the page mean? My dictionary didn't make it clear. Quote
Pegasus Posted September 24, 2016 at 12:47 AM Report Posted September 24, 2016 at 12:47 AM @iand regarding post #4 "What does 慕课课程 at the top of the page mean?" Wow. That's a new word for me (in both English and in Chinese). I reckon 慕课 (mù kè) is a phonetic transcription for MOOC. And, 课程 (kèchéng) means "course" or "academic program" according to the Yellowbridge online Mandarin-English dictionary. So, combined it means "MOOC course". Incidentally, it wasn't until I read this topic and read the OP's post that I came to learn what MOOC meant. According to Wikipedia, MOOC stands for Massive Open Online Course and it is pronounced /muːk/. Very cool. I think I might sign up for this MOOC. 1 Quote

艾墨本 Posted October 17, 2016 at 09:19 AM Report Posted October 17, 2016 at 09:19 AM Looks like the course is now live on Coursera: https://www.coursera.org/specializations/hsk-learn-chinese However, it only covers HSK 1-3, not 1-6. 1 Quote
thechamp Posted October 17, 2016 at 10:16 AM Report Posted October 17, 2016 at 10:16 AM When they release one for 6 I'm signing up! Although curious how they can do a MOOC for something like the HSK6....it's a fairly broad exam in terms of content so would probably be pretty long. Quote
Tianjin42 Posted October 18, 2016 at 08:28 AM Author Report Posted October 18, 2016 at 08:28 AM I think it's phased so we can expect the higher levels later. I'm also curious as to how they'll do it. Quote

New Members AshleyBen Posted November 15, 2016 at 01:53 AM New Members Report Posted November 15, 2016 at 01:53 AM Is anyone taking these? I've just finished my HSK 2 test so I'll be moving onto HSK 3 soon but I've signed up to the HSK 1 and 2 courses for some revision and refresher material. I'm looking forward to the HSK 3 course starting next year, so far the lectures and material seem okay. Quote
