New Members yeon Posted October 15, 2016 at 03:25 PM New Members Report Posted October 15, 2016 at 03:25 PM Hello everyone I'm currently planning for a short story that I would like to write, and I am looking for existent Chinese first names (so not family names) with specific characters in it. I have tried browsing the Internet for quite a while but wasn't able to find a database with first names that could be searched by ideogram, so I thought I'd try my luck here and ask real people instead of google. Here is what I would ideally love to find: - one boy's name with "sun" in it- one name (working for both genders or female) with moon in it- one boy's name with "night" or "shadow" in it- one girl's name with "flower" in it- and one girl's name with "song" in it. Any kind of suggestion is more than welcome, I have extremely basic knowledge of Mandarin Chinese and could definitely use all the help you might offer Thank you! Quote
Geiko Posted October 15, 2016 at 06:52 PM Report Posted October 15, 2016 at 06:52 PM You can have a look at this website. It's all in Chinese, but you only have to fill in the top left-hand form: leave the 姓 field blank if you don't want family names, and then choose 汉字取名模式, the gender you want, in the 名 field write the character you want and choose if you want it to be the first or the last character out of two character names. Some examples: - Boy's names beginning with 日 and ending with 日. - Girl's names beginning with 歌 and ending with 歌. Quote

However, 日 in a name is a terrible choice (as well as "sun", it also means "fuck"). 阳 could work, but it also has many other meanings besides sun (it's also the Yang of Yin-Yang). Quote
