cliveface96 Posted October 25, 2016 at 07:42 PM Report Posted October 25, 2016 at 07:42 PM I've managed to save enough money to head to China for a couple of months after Christmas. My main intention is to just learn as much as possible. I was thinking of doing something similar to this bloke: http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/43939-independent-chinese-study-review/. It seems like a pretty legit approach to me and I would probably be studying around the same amount. At this stage I'm still not quite sure where I'm going to head and how I'm going to do it, so I'm seeking as much general advice as possible ;). I've got a fair few Chinese mates but they've lived in Australia for years, so beyond food prices and flights I don't really know that much about costs. Thanks ;) Quote
Flickserve Posted October 26, 2016 at 07:11 AM Report Posted October 26, 2016 at 07:11 AM Tamu's write ups are so impressive. There is the phenomenal amount of work that's been put in, but also a crucial factor was the experience of learning two other languages previously. Good luck to you. If it were me, I would probably head up to North China but it will be bloody cold around that time. Quote
imron Posted October 26, 2016 at 07:43 AM Report Posted October 26, 2016 at 07:43 AM Bear in mind that shortly after Christmas it is Chinese New Year and so many language schools and tutors will not be available during that time. Might be best to wait until after the Chinese New Year if your schedule allows for it. Quote
cliveface96 Posted October 27, 2016 at 10:56 AM Author Report Posted October 27, 2016 at 10:56 AM That's a good point. Unfortunately it won't be possible to postpone it as I'm pretty constrained with uni semesters atm. I really only have 3 months from the end of November. Any possible alternatives you can think of? ;) Quote
Popular Post Flickserve Posted October 27, 2016 at 12:18 PM Popular Post Report Posted October 27, 2016 at 12:18 PM For the Chinese New Year, you can consider being a rented boyfriend visting the girlfriend's family. That would give you a place to stay and learn some Chinese at the same time. 6 Quote
