laohu489 Posted July 20, 2005 at 08:33 PM Report Posted July 20, 2005 at 08:33 PM I want an input method that would allow either me to write in pinyin with the tone marks. Does anyone know of a PC program for this? The only program I know of is Rich's PinYin Font but that is for the Mac. Any other suggestions? Quote
sevensutton Posted July 21, 2005 at 12:07 PM Report Posted July 21, 2005 at 12:07 PM I can provide a set of Word macros that will convert pinyin with numbers to unicode pinyin font, and unicode pinyin font to pinyin with numbers. Send me an email off forum. rosiera7@yahoo.com Quote
roddy Posted July 21, 2005 at 12:16 PM Report Posted July 21, 2005 at 12:16 PM Wenlin will allow you to do this, but it's not cheap. You might also try the Word Macro available here - it takes a few minutes to set up, and it's not instant - you have to type ni3 hao3 and then run the macro to convert it. It works well though, and it's free. I've used it with no problems. There are some other suggestions on the page I link to. Roddy Quote
laohu489 Posted July 21, 2005 at 02:37 PM Author Report Posted July 21, 2005 at 02:37 PM I have Wenlin but did not realize it could be used that way. I just use it for the dictionary. I will give those macros a try. Thanks for the info. Quote
Gary Soup Posted July 25, 2005 at 04:00 AM Report Posted July 25, 2005 at 04:00 AM It's the simplest thing with Wenlin. Just type the number of the tone after the character or syllable and it will place the tone mark. Quote
hughitt1 Posted July 26, 2005 at 06:40 AM Report Posted July 26, 2005 at 06:40 AM You can go to pinyin.info's pinyin with number ---> pinyin with tonemark conversion tool which is really simple and easy to use. there is at the moment, as far as i know however no way you can "type" pinyin using a keyboard without using a hexidecimal or ascii code. Taibei Posted July 27, 2005 at 04:37 AM Report Posted July 27, 2005 at 04:37 AM Wenlin will allow you to do this, but it's not cheap. Wenlin's free demo can handle this. Just open a new window (Ctrl+N) and type away; tone numbers can go just after the vowel or at the end of the syllable. And the demo never expires. Highly recommended. Of course, the commercial version's much better (I'm a happy user); but like Roddy said, it's not cheap. Quote
woliveri Posted July 27, 2005 at 08:27 AM Report Posted July 27, 2005 at 08:27 AM You can also do this with NJStar. First write the sentence, paragraph, or word, then highlight it and under Tools convert Hanzi to Pinyin. It will do it with Characters or without. Quote
