js6426 Posted November 28, 2016 at 11:19 AM Report Posted November 28, 2016 at 11:19 AM I have been accepted to study at Harbin Institute of Technology, and I have a wife and 2 children who I obviously want to accompany me. I have all the necessary documents to get my X visa, but I am a little confused as to how to go about getting a visa for my wife and kids. My first thoughts was the S visa, as they will be with me the whole time. However, when I check out the document requirements for the S visa on the embassy website, they require me to show my residency permit. Clearly I don't have this because we plan on going to China together at the same time... Does anybody know a way around this? For example, is it possible to get tourist visas for my family and then change those to S visas in China once I have my residency permit? I really don't know what to do here and definitely don't want to leave my wife and kids in Cambodia for 3/4 weeks while I wait for my residency permit to come through, and then send it back to Cambodia so that they can apply for an S visa. Anyone have any experience in this area that can offer advice? It would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Jonny Quote
