What is the difference between 工作 and 辦公 ?

I saw the on the internet, but both gives me meaning "to work".

工作 is the normal word for "work" (either verb or noun).

Examples:

我每天都工作到很晚。(verb)

我的工作還沒做完。(noun)

 

辦公 is more formal, and is more commonly used in compounds.

Examples:

辦公室 - office - e.g. 我們公司的辦公室位於市中心。

辦公桌 - desk - e.g. 我辦公桌上面堆滿了各種亂七八糟的雜物。

There's also 辦公樓 - office building, but 寫字樓 is more commonly used (at least in northern mainland China).

 

There's also 上班, which means to go to work or to start working. The antonym is 下班.

Examples:

你幾點上班？

你在哪裡上班？

我今天8點半才下班了。

下班嘍，回家嘍！

both gives me meaning "to work".

 

Nine times out of ten, if the translation for two different Chinese words is the same English word - you need a new dictionary.

办公 usually means official works, works relating to government or administration, while 工作 means all kinds of work.
