taiwaneseguy1146 Posted July 24, 2005 at 05:23 PM Report Posted July 24, 2005 at 05:23 PM I've been looking for a long time for some kind of listening course in the form of CDs or tapes that I can use to help improve my listening skills. All the ones that I know of are aimed more for beginners who are just starting to learn how to speak the language. I already can speak a basic level of chinese, so I don't think pimsleur or one of those other beginner courses would help me. I can already undestand a lot of everyday conversation but I want to work towards being able to understand TV and radio as well. Can anyone recommend a more intermediate level listening course? Also, what is your opinion of the "practical chinese reader" textbooks for learning to write traditional chinese? Thanks. Quote

taiwaneseguy1146 Posted July 27, 2005 at 11:34 PM Author Report Posted July 27, 2005 at 11:34 PM Is there a traditional version of that course? If not, do you think buying it would have any value? Quote
taiwaneseguy1146 Posted July 28, 2005 at 03:43 AM Author Report Posted July 28, 2005 at 03:43 AM roddy, about that listening course you recommended... how important is knowing simplified characters in being able to use that product? I am learning traditional chinese and although this product seems very good, I am a bit concerned that I will be disappointed because the book is written in simplified. It seems that being a listening course, reading wouldn't play a big part but if the material is all written in simplified do you think it would still be beneficial to buy it? Thanks. Quote
roddy Posted July 28, 2005 at 03:45 AM Report Posted July 28, 2005 at 03:45 AM There's a topic specific to that course linked to above. Ask in there. Quote
