roddy Posted April 4, 2021 at 11:54 AM Author Report Posted April 4, 2021 at 11:54 AM And a third attempt... Ok, all seems to be working well. It was odd - it seemed to be slow to post, but everything else was normal. Now, everything seems normal? Quote

I just noticed, 6 months later , 2 weeks later etc. in between posts. That looks new? Great tiny detail improvement, maybe it was there before, but I've never seen it! haha I hadn't realised I was reading an old thread. Thanks for all your guys work! Quote

roddy Posted April 5, 2021 at 08:01 AM Author Report Posted April 5, 2021 at 08:01 AM Ok, so it seemed slow to post a couple of times - not timing out, but slower than it should be. Rebooted the server and (coincidentally or not) - seems back to normal now. 1 Quote
mungouk Posted April 5, 2021 at 08:05 AM Report Posted April 5, 2021 at 08:05 AM Yes, it seems OK now. Must've been a temporary anomaly in the time-space continuum. Quote
mungouk Posted April 14, 2021 at 01:16 PM Report Posted April 14, 2021 at 01:16 PM Since the last 2-3 days I'm once again seeing those time-outs resulting in the cloudflare error page. Only when posting, not editing. When I go back I find the post was successful, but it didn't look like it at the time. (Possibly the cause of some recent double/quadruple postings?) Quote
roddy Posted April 14, 2021 at 05:42 PM Author Report Posted April 14, 2021 at 05:42 PM Test Yeah, I see it. Will try to troubleshoot tomorrow. Although merging replies is quick! Quote
roddy Posted April 16, 2021 at 07:37 AM Author Report Posted April 16, 2021 at 07:37 AM Ok, I've turned off everything I thought might be causing it but didn't help. Have turned it all back on and filed a ticket. Apologies for the inconvenience, and I look forward to finding out how I've inadvertently caused this... Quote
roddy Posted April 16, 2021 at 07:52 AM Author Report Posted April 16, 2021 at 07:52 AM Ok, it looks like it's actually an email problem - emails are being sent slowly, and on a topic / forum with lots of followers, that slows the page refresh down. Have another ticket in. 1 Quote

I have noticed (since last week) a long delay when posting, between pressing 'Submit' and the post actually appearing on the thread. When editing said post, the edited version is published straight away. Sound like a firewall problem to my uninformed brain. Quote
roddy Posted April 16, 2021 at 12:17 PM Author Report Posted April 16, 2021 at 12:17 PM No, but the software folk suggested it was the most common explanation for the issue, and when I did a bit of testing (on topics with lots / no followers) it did seem to make a difference. But the webhost has come back say there's no delay. Quote
roddy Posted April 16, 2021 at 12:24 PM Author Report Posted April 16, 2021 at 12:24 PM Yeah, when I try and send a test email via SMTP there's a 15 second delay. If I use PHP, it's instant. Email configuration is a bit of a dark art as far as I'm concerned, so I've switched to PHP sending (which should work fine) until I figure something out. 1 Quote
