calibre2001 Posted January 31, 2017 at 09:38 AM Report Posted January 31, 2017 at 09:38 AM Not sure if I'm reading the date in this picture correctly. The words in the picture are: 咸豐鼎元辛亥葭月 通家第林用(昌鳥)謹撰 咸豐- This indicates the time period of the reign of Emperor XianFeng of Qing dynasty (1850-1862) 鼎元- No idea what indicates ( a rank of some sort?) 辛亥- This corresponds to 1851 in the Gregorian calendar 葭月- The 11th month of the year (lunar calendar) I guess its around December 1851 - January 1852. Anyone knows what 鼎元 indicates? Quote

Apollys Posted February 1, 2017 at 10:31 AM Report Posted February 1, 2017 at 10:31 AM Perhaps you're asking the wrong question... The exam rank may not be relevant to the date, but the date is relevant to the exam rank. Quote
