1 more thing, once I tried changing the page to CH version and translate my current status(已受理) by google translate. It says 'Accepted'. Not sure though if this are the words used for 'In-progress' in Chinese.

Jabri, that would have been too awesome if the proper translation was missing and we kept spinning wheels.

But I have checked with a Chinese friend and it means only that the documents have been accepted and are "in progress".

I couldn't wait any longer without any news, so on Monday, I decided to write an email to my first choice (ZJSU). Today I received a response saying that I have been accepted. This makes the wait for the final results a little more tolerable. I recommend you to do the same if you are a little impatient by now.

Article 19 states that schools can let foreign students write their theses in languages other than Chinese.

Yes, ok.

Quote

“Institutes of higher education must demonstrate to foreign students, with Chinese law and regulations, school regulation, national spirit and school spirit, and traditional Chinese culture and custom and other elements in its education content.”

bad, now they will change curriculum and we will loose credits on important things? hope it is added as extra.

“Institutes of higher education must respect the customs and religious beliefs of international students, but cannot provide places for religious activity. Proselytizing, religous gatherings, or religious activities are not permitted on campus.”

Ok, im going to their country. We can`t demand that.

I will study finance, hope i can still learn the shadow banking side of china, and how they are dealing with huge debt increases. I dont mind learning about culture, law, and the national spirit (after all, communist country). But still want to learn to the full extent of possible, the subject that i choose to study.

@VL02

I am currently studying in China and have not received any information on this. I did sing 《一块红布》in front of the Mao statue and hundreds of students to celebrate our school anniversary, sometimes things get hard, I am glad I am able to freely express my emotions.

I would prefer other changes, for example: better funding, better housing, opportunities to work while studying since living costs in China are not that low anymore, language support (ever tried to write a thesis in Chinese?), more international students studying with me, it would be nice to have a more cosmopolitan environment.

On the article,

these changes mentioned by QZ, if implemented, mean that the Chinese Government is making sure they won't be overthrown by an international student or a group of international students. It is fine by me, I am not planing to overthrow the Chinese Government. Yet, the concerns listed above are still there and I would appreciate if the Chinese Government cared about those things as well. I would also suggest you to look into that and reconsider studying in China if you find that the scholarship being offered to you is not enough to cover your stay or you won't receive any support when you find you need someone to be there for you while attending a program where the language of instruction is Chinese. I have seen plagiarism being tolerated, not seen much when it comes to teaching international students how to do their homework on their own so that they don't have to resort to plagiarism.

After using social media to share the difficulties I am having, I discovered that, for example, the U.S. has student labor. If students, international students included, need financial support, they can simply go to student labor and find that. I have not seen anything like that in China.

The Chinese Government should consider actually caring about the wellbeing of international students, not just about staying in power. Even though I do not mind them staying in power.

In short, if you want to study in China, think about any problems that might arise.

I actually avoided this website for a while because, just like most English-language media, I found the old "don't go to China" "only for language, don't do a degree"  annoying, unhelpful, biased, and insensitive.

I am trying to complete my degree and did not apply this year. Will think about it next year, might end up going for further studies. Good luck to all of those who applied now and are waiting for the results.

EDIT
