1000 enough? In Beijing? How much did she pay for her phone? I do not think so, but people are free to make all kinds of claims.

Think well before going to China. Please make sure you won't regret your decision later.

Living costs in China are high. It is not that bad for an industrialized country, but scholarships don't usually offer enough money to explore urban life in China.

Human rights are not only about protecting the survival of human beings, also about wellbeing and thriving. It is impossible to thrive with 3500 a month in Shanghai. Impossible.

It might be good after you graduate.

It might be the only chance you have, but I still think you should think before you decide.

Also, money is not everything, but you still need a basic amount, and I would put that amount to 6000-7000, maybe even 10000 for Shanghai.

I had been lived in China and ı can say in a sentence "the scholarship is enough" doesnt matter where u are, just dont dream too much, if u just going to study then its enough, but if u want to travel or if u dont want to use campus canteen and go out for every meal, or gonna be a club boy like %90 of foreign students in China then its not enough, thats all. Ofc a scholarship never cover ur whisky fee or delicious meal fee in a pretty restaurant.

I totally agree. My 6000 - 7000 estimate includes the rent. I will be renting a one bed apartment for 3500 in Shanghai. So that lives me with the 3500 you mentioned.

Shanghai is a really nice place and you don't need that much money. You can have a dream live while money is not a priority to you.

Still, scholarships should be increased. There was this one time the CSC scholarship was increased, but I still think more money is needed in order to attract the best the brightest international students.

I don't smoke, drink or eat meat too. Welcome the club haha.

Yes, club boys, the general culture of international students in China is club boys. Unfortunately, being a club promoter is popular. Increasing the monthly allowance would improve this situation. Nothing of luxury, just basic quality.

Also I believe the scholarships have been designed presuming the students live in dorms. 3500 per month is enough anywhere in China, but it doesnt take into account rent, and accomodation allowance of 1200 is pretty low if you want to live outside the dorm, thats where the problem is in my opinion.

@wanzima35 Was just talking to a friend in china, he mentioned it. Also with the CSC changing things up on their end its quite possible that something like this comes to pass. if not 3500 is more than enough. Scholarships are supposed to be enough to get you through school. most scholarships are just free tuition where you have to work your way through for your expenses. This scholarship is enough for you to focus on your studies and not have to work 6 hours a day.
