DSK Posted June 21, 2017 at 05:46 AM Report Posted June 21, 2017 at 05:46 AM hello everyone, I just have gotten an email from Renmin Univ where they offer me a partial scholarship of 50% and now I'm confused since the fee is around 4300 US$ per year for the master I had applied to and I have no idea if I can get jobs out there? anyone with a relevant experience is more than welcome to tell me more about. FYI I will be self-supporting my studies so you know the hustle
BanjoSlice Posted June 21, 2017 at 05:53 AM Report Posted June 21, 2017 at 05:53 AM Hi guys please help me out. I sent my application documents yesterday. However on looking at a pic of the application form I realised it had been printed with 3 numbers missing on the application number. However within the package was a letter that somewhere had an application number referenced. Does anyone know how much this will affect me or how to rectify this problem?? It's really so important. Thanks 1
BanjoSlice Posted June 21, 2017 at 05:56 AM Report Posted June 21, 2017 at 05:56 AM @DSK congs. I am not really experienced but according to what I know it's illegal to work on a student visa in China. I think you should go there if you have all the necessary finance for your studies. 2

New Members Hero Kezia Posted June 21, 2017 at 06:40 PM New Members Report Posted June 21, 2017 at 06:40 PM Hi there:) I have recently received an email from SJTU stating that I have been admitted and that I will be receiving my application package in the mail. Does this mean that I have received the CSC scholarship, or just that I have been admitted to the university? Also, reaching out to my fellow Canadians: Have any of you submitted an application to both the Chinese Embassy in Toronto and in Ottawa? I was notified that I was nominated for both scholarships, but of course would prefer to have the Canada-China Scholar's Exchange Program since it pays for flight! Do you know how the CSC will choose which scholarship we receive, or perhaps if we get to choose ourselves? I feel like I'm stuck in limbo... both accepted and not accepted at the same time:( XD. 2
philippo Posted June 21, 2017 at 09:45 PM Report Posted June 21, 2017 at 09:45 PM @Hero Kezia congrats. It means u've gotten the scholarship 1
Nhq0117 Posted June 21, 2017 at 10:14 PM Report Posted June 21, 2017 at 10:14 PM Hello @Hero Kezia Congratulations on the admittance. A lot of us are still in limbo! When you log into the system, http://apply.sjtu.edu.cn/, what options do you see? For the last couple weeks my portal has been updated to include several options, including "Scholarship Detail". In my case, when I click thru it says "Masters Program Type A (CSC)". Although I didn't apply thru the Chinese embassy, I applied directly through the school (they nominated me a few weeks ago). Still waiting for final approval/admissions materials! For a lot of people it might say "Under Review", although in your case you might see something more specific. Last thing, a bunch of us have been discussing SJTU specifically on this page: https://www.chinese-forums.com/forums/topic/54066-shanghai-jiao-tong-university-sjtu上海交通大学-csc-and-other-scholarship-applications/?page=13#comment-418345 Check it out and good luck! 1
New Members Hero Kezia Posted June 21, 2017 at 10:39 PM New Members Report Posted June 21, 2017 at 10:39 PM Hi @Nhq0117 Thank you! When I log into the SJTU system, I only have three options: "view", "Pay Tuition Fee", and "Registration Appoint". I'm a little worried that I don't see the "Scholarship Detail" hyperlink. Thanks for the link to the other forum! I'll definitely check it out:)!
Homni Posted June 21, 2017 at 11:35 PM Report Posted June 21, 2017 at 11:35 PM I could have applied directly to the university for csc instead of embassy? OMG, why i did not know that, such a big mistake on my part. Well, anyway. Congrats for you guys, hope everything goes well for everyone. 1
Erich Posted June 22, 2017 at 12:21 AM Report Posted June 22, 2017 at 12:21 AM Does anyone know approximately how many full-ride Chinese Government Scholarships (University Program) are given out each year? Or is there a rough estimate of the average number of recipients there are for each university? Thx

Tell me about it. I got the CSC "recommendation letter" from the Toronto Consulate. And I was recently invited to a Chinese-Canadian Education Differences and Similarities Seminar... Are you going to that? I was accepted by Xiamen University, but still haven't 'officially' won the scholarship. I've never heard of the Canada-China Scholar's Exchange program though. Good luck!

simplet Posted June 24, 2017 at 10:29 AM Report Posted June 24, 2017 at 10:29 AM Do you guys know if there's much of a chance that a university will reject you once your application has been sent to them by the CSC? I applied through the embassy in Paris to do a phd, and I was contacted by Beijing Normal University last week. They told me that the CSC had forwarded my application to them and they wanted me to sign up on their website and select the exact phd direction and supervisor I wanted, the woman told me my info needed to be sent to the relevant department for "academic review". This means that my application was recommended by the embassy in France, and then also validated by the CSC in China, so there's no real reason why the university would reject me right? I'm thinking about starting to prepare for my life in Beijing but I'm afraid something might still go awry.
