Popular Post ELIJAH Posted July 8, 2017 at 07:35 PM Popular Post Report Share Posted July 8, 2017 at 07:35 PM @VitusHaving applied through University, the University sends your documents to CSC, your status changes, in principle you cannot be rejected by CSC because CSC depends on these dispatching agencies for the selection process. They could reject a person if only some criminal records are found or they find potentially dangerous information about the person. These are my proposals and based on my experience before now, people don't get thrown out by CSC after embassy or school has accepted. For those applying through embassy, the school could reject them and CSC will locate another suitable school.
ELIJAH Posted July 8, 2017 at 07:38 PM Report Share Posted July 8, 2017 at 07:38 PM @DanidanNo,I did not choose my room but normally depending on the facility available in your university, CSC scholarship students are given single rooms.

samuxx Posted July 9, 2017 at 06:50 AM Report Share Posted July 9, 2017 at 06:50 AM @ELIJAH @Danidan actually only Ph.D. are the ones who get the single rooms, that is covered by CSC. Language, masters and bachelor students go in double rooms, you can request a single room but you will have to pay the difference of room value (probably), and as experience shows they usually don't want to give single room,

DSK Posted July 10, 2017 at 02:51 AM Report Share Posted July 10, 2017 at 02:51 AM JUST IN beautiful people, I' ve just gotten an email from Renmin UNIV (Beijing) and they awarded me their school scholarship (free tuition) this means I will have to be responsible for the rest of the expenses lodging and accommodations. right now I have really mixed feelings and I would like to hear from your experiences. most important what to prepare in these few weeks before moving to China. also, my program is taught in English and I don't speak Mandarin yet
Danteveli Posted July 10, 2017 at 05:46 AM Report Share Posted July 10, 2017 at 05:46 AM If you can afford living cost and accommodation Renmin is a great opportunity and really cool adventure. When I got there first time my Chinese was bad but it improved during the stay to the level where I was comfortable with thinking in Chinese. If you don't speak Chinese think about getting airport pickup or prepare couple routes to get to the uni from airport . Also check if the plugs/socket working in your country will work in China. If its about the money than you can live inexpensive life, it may be hard without eating out and travelling but it is possible to survive without spending much. You can get some study buddies at the English Corner. I'll be studying at Renda so if you need help just get in touch with me my wechat (微信) is danteveli_

New Members Jaca Posted July 10, 2017 at 06:57 AM New Members Report Share Posted July 10, 2017 at 06:57 AM Hello everyone. If there is someone who has applied for Nankai University, they have announced a list for CGS with provisionally admitted applicants. This is the link: http://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/69rswFnoDJK2k2oWFy0zPQ Important: This is only for those who have applied through University, or who have applied for Silk Road Program and American Student Program. If you had applied through embassy, then Nankai probably accepted your application if you hadn't received a rejection email. But you can email them and check.
Popular Post kouch Posted July 10, 2017 at 08:08 AM Popular Post Report Share Posted July 10, 2017 at 08:08 AM Hi DSK. As for me, I was an exchange student in Renmin last year and I will be back this year. When I went there for the first time, just the tuiton was free. For all the other expenses, I used my French scholarship, around 400€. I don't know what is your monthly budget but from my experience, if you are not too picky and if you remember that you are there mainly to study, money should not be an issue. Share a room with someone, it will be much cheaper (I think around 150€ per month instead of more than 400€ for a single room) and use the rest for your daily expenses. The food is really cheap especially if you go to the canteen. Transportation is fine too. Now, I remember my first two weeks in China were terrible because I was not prepared. Just like you, even if I was a student in Chinese, when I got there I just could not understand anything and it was really hard for me to speak. I even remember the first day, I went to have food and could not order a bowl of rice. Try to learn a few sentences and words that could be useful and you'll see with time you will learn so much without even realizing it. Also, prepare money. When you arrive, you will have to spend a lot of money. If my memories are good, you'll be asked 300 yuans for the deposit of the room, 600 yuans for the insurance, around 400 yuan for the residence permit, you will have to buy the books I paid around 200 yuans, if they are not ok with your medical stuff around 400 yuans. So make sure you know that and you bring the money for that. When you arrive at the airport be very careful when you take the taxi. Illegal taxis will try to rip you off, especially if you don't speak Chinese. You follow the line for the taxi and you take a legal one, don't listen to people coming to you. The trip from the aiport to Renmin should be around 100 yuans. You'll see that sometimes in Beijing, you'll feel like Chinese people are always mad at you, shout at you. Sometimes it's true lol, they give up easily on people who don't understand them and they won't try to make an effort at all. Sometimes it's just their way of being. So don't take it personally it's fine. As for Renmin University, trust me your experience there will be great. It will be my third time there and I have no regret. From what I've heard, it's not the biggest university in the country but I've never seen a university that big in my country lol. You have absolutely everything on campus. Shops, restaurants, running track, even a hospital. A lot of activites are organized for international students. And the persons in charge of us are absolutely amazing ! I have no other words, they are always so helpful and will always try to help you. At the end of my exchange, my feelings were really mixed. I enjoyed my time there because I made a lot of friends, had a lot of fun, improved my Chinese but at the same time I could not wait to go home but it was mostly because I had a lot lot lot of work and even though I went there to study, I still hoped I had the time to do more fun things. But when I came back to France, after maybe 2 months I felt very nostalgic and I really missed my life in China. And that's why I'm back ! I hope it was not too long. If you need more information, feel free to ask !
