abcdefg Posted February 9, 2017 at 11:19 AM Report Posted February 9, 2017 at 11:19 AM I saw a similar one in Macau on 春节 morning. Dragons, lion dancers, fireworks and lots of festivity. It starts at the Ruins of St. Paul and winds its way around the peninsular old quarter. For several days parents had their small children dressed in dynasty costumes 汉服 when out and about. Quote
Shelley Posted February 9, 2017 at 11:27 AM Report Posted February 9, 2017 at 11:27 AM We used to get one in our town centre, 2011 was the last year, the local Chinese association said they couldn't afford to do it any more. It was a real shame because the dragons were manned by chinese kids and western kids, was really great to them all have fun and smiling together as they brought the dragon down the main street to the largest chinese restaurant where they opened an upstairs window and threw the dragon the pearl and then things got very loud and lots of dancing. It was a wonderful spectacle, they then had lots of dance troupes doing their bit adults and kids. it all took about 2 hours. There was also an outdoor chinese market with lots of food kiosks and chinese arts and crafts. I was sad when it stopped. I may go to London one year to see the celebrations there. Quote
