thechamp Posted February 14, 2017 at 11:25 AM Report Posted February 14, 2017 at 11:25 AM Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone has much experience with native Chinese or Taiwanese literature or language exams for high school students. Are these approachable for foreigners? I'm just interested because my girlfriend is now having to take GCSE maths and english so that she can study for PGCE (Her Brazilian degree transfers fine though, she just needs to get a 'C' in maths and English GCSE). Looking at the content I actually think that GCSE English is considerably easier than the proficiency exams foreign students need to take to enter an English or American university. It seems that our language requirements for foreigners are way way higher (in Britain) than our language requirements for our own students! My suspicion is that the 'Chinese' equivalent of something like GCSE or A level English (i.e. Chinese 高考) would be totally unapproachable for anyone but a very advanced foreign learner of Chinese. Does anyone have any experience of this? Quote

The exam also measures the ability to read ancient Chinese which is even hard for native speakers. 1 Quote
