In an exercise I'm working on, a boy says, "明天我要看我奶奶." Why is "my" translated as "我" and not "我的"?

In what situations should I use "我" and when should I use "我的"?

Thanks!

Thanks! I googled it, but I googled with characters, not pinyin, and I didn't find anything.
