fabiothebest Posted April 8, 2017 at 03:43 PM Report Share Posted April 8, 2017 at 03:43 PM There is a new tv drama called 人民的名义 (In the name of people). It is about Chinese government trying to discover and fight corruption. Xi Jinping is running a real anti-corruption campaign and the production received significant government funding. It should be interesting and fun to watch. Chinese citizens say that although it's a fiction, the tv drama feels so real Youku link: http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMjY3MTQ2MDE0OA==.html

Shelley Posted April 8, 2017 at 10:52 PM Report Share Posted April 8, 2017 at 10:52 PM When I tried to watch the screen was covered in scrolling characters and the number six repeated a lot. The picture behind was almost completely obscured. Is this me? Or something else I don't know about not being a regular user of Youku? atongmu Posted April 11, 2017 at 03:37 AM Report Share Posted April 11, 2017 at 03:37 AM I have been watching on tv here in China. Its very interesting. However, there is a lot of vocab I am not familiar with. Does anybody know where to find a list of vocab for this series? If such a thing exists!? imron Posted April 11, 2017 at 07:49 AM Report Share Posted April 11, 2017 at 07:49 AM This WeChat account provides soft-copy transcripts for Chinese TV shows. They charge for each episode so it might get costly for an entire series, but I imagine transcripts from just the first few episodes would be enough to get a good feel for commonly used vocab.
atongmu Posted April 13, 2017 at 03:19 AM Report Share Posted April 13, 2017 at 03:19 AM hi Imron. thanks for this tip. it is really useful. I have got in touch with them just now and they will have the first two episodes done tomorrow. They charge 100 kuai per episode, it is 2kuai per minute. easy to pay on zhifubao. I will let everybody know how it goes. cheers.
imron Posted April 13, 2017 at 03:46 AM Report Share Posted April 13, 2017 at 03:46 AM Ok, that's more pricey than I thought. A previous thread that first mentioned this service was charging 10 rmb an episode for 欢乐颂. I guess the price fluctuates depending on popularity and how recent it is. Popular Post StChris Posted April 16, 2017 at 11:20 AM Popular Post Report Share Posted April 16, 2017 at 11:20 AM I first heard about this show last week when it appeared as a topic on 锵锵三人行: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6MQER7DsEw Although I'm sure it'll end up showing the CCP as a virtuous organisation dealing with a few bad apples it makes a nice change from the usual Chinese drama fare. I think it's also a good opportunity to learn some party-speak in an interesting way. Anyway, watching two episodes has convinced me that it will be worth going through in detail and producing a vocab list for. I should be able to stick to a schedule of at least 2 episodes per week.
