TOPIC ON SJTU!

I have read other topics and I noticed the increasing number of people (including me) who have applied at SJTU so I thought it helpful to create a separate topic for us.

Feel free to share/ask any info/question on Admissions, Scholarships, Interviews, Accommodation, and Campus life among other at SJTU.

I will drop some useful links that I deem useful or interesting. Feel free to add more. It would be helpful to check out the links before asking a question as they are often more reliable and won’t take you much time.

Interesting how we are both SEIEE applicants! I personally did my undergraduate degree in Computer Engineering at the University of Michigan. Hopefully we can both get the scholarship to study at the SEIEE next fall.

Really interesting! I applied for Cyberspace Security (网络空间安全), in English medium. I think being from the same college we'll have some classes in common like Chinese and/or algebra. I am currently a senior and I'll graduate in late June/early July. Right now I'm working on my graduation project and preparing for grad school at the same time. Really stressful!
Best of luck to us

Awesome! It'd be quite cool to see someone from here on the same campus. I actually applied for the Chinese medium. My logic was that even though my Chinese is not as good as my English, the professors have much better Chinese than English (the lectures from when I studied abroad were in English, not the most fluent of English, can be understood for the most part though). Also I can improve my Chinese even more this way.

Good luck to you and hope to see you on campus in fall. :)

I remember my supervisor telling me at the of the interview that he hopes I can improve my Chinese while being in his research team. Found it weird at the moment (probably caused I was nervous lol) but later I understood it's only but normal. We're in China so the available knowledge will always be in Chinese

Today I found my application returned because coz I didn't provide an English proficiency and they say me to provide it and resubmit my application. I'm already in china and their English tests are too expensive so I'm asking a question to others applicants to SJTU can i get an admission without any English test as I have already i good English skills

Thanks you

@saliou Hello and welcome!. To the best of my knowledge, you must provide an English proficiency certificate at the time of application. This condition can only be waived if:

1.You're a native English speaker

2.You've graduated from a four-year undergraduate program in the United States, UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong. (Here is the link: http://isc.sjtu.edu.cn/EN/content.aspx?info_lb=185&flag=2)

It's late to write and IELTS or TOEFL exam now. So what I suggest you do is to get a certificate from your college and/or international office saying your English level poses no problem on your ability to understand lectures and communicating with teachers or peers.

Good luck!

@julia_sh Welcome to the group. Also thanks for updating regarding the announcement of results by next week.

@MaLei Friend, I read a document named Q&A for international graduate Program 2017. For Scholarship evaluation and results, it was written as:

10. What is the CSC scholarship (through our university) evaluation process?
There are two steps, university review and CSC review.
University review is made by the Scholarship Evaluation Committee. Once you pass the university review, we will
forward your application to CSC review. After the CSC review the final results will be fixed.
11. What is the CSC scholarship (through your embassy) evaluation process?
You need to submit your application per the requirements of Chinese embassy in your country. The embassy will
forward your documents to Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC, based in Beijing) if they approve to award you
with the scholarship. At last, the CSC will deliver your documents to individual university and confirm your
admission status.
12. When can I know the scholarship result?
The scholarship evaluation will be conducted in late May, and the result will be announced in early June. You can
sign in your account on our website Study@SJTU and check your admission/scholarship status.

Well, let's hope for the good news coming out from them soon. Fingers crossed! Crossed Fingers on Apple iOS 10.3
