Ramloc17 Posted June 21, 2017 at 06:05 PM Report Posted June 21, 2017 at 06:05 PM @Tiri says minhang,,,,, ill be going to xuhui.... hope it applies to that as well Quote
Tiri Posted June 21, 2017 at 06:10 PM Report Posted June 21, 2017 at 06:10 PM Why would it only apply to Minhang though... unless they use dorms in Xuhui to rent to outside people on vacation? They do that on my campus on ZheDa, but only in summer. Quote
Ramloc17 Posted June 21, 2017 at 06:29 PM Report Posted June 21, 2017 at 06:29 PM I dont believe stuff unless its clearly written lol. but you are right should apply to everything! so any idea when they will announce results? because the admission packages should be on their way now and we will have to book dorms in july.... Homni Posted June 21, 2017 at 06:29 PM Report Posted June 21, 2017 at 06:29 PM Xuhui is a very expensive area, would not doubt uni is making some money during summer. By the way, I will be living off campus (with girlfriend, which is not allowed on campus). It is Xuhui campus My budget is 4000 rmb a month, anyone know where I can look for? close to campus or metro station that go to campus? Any tips would be amazing, thanks. ps: I know it a low budget for the area, but not impossible.I think it will be old and not great apartment, but hey, its a place to sleep, eat, and take a shower. Ramloc17 Posted June 21, 2017 at 06:31 PM Report Posted June 21, 2017 at 06:31 PM From the numerous google searches and listings iv seen, you can get a room in a shared apartment for 2000-3000 RMB easy Quote

My scholarship result is still under review, and i dont have any option to pay or accept the final offer on the website. Based on that i would imagine another week for results, and 2 weeks for packages to be sent, which results in receiving them in july. Hope everyone has enough time to book accommodation. @Ramloc17 Yeah, I saw that. But we are looking for a studio, or single room apartment. Quote
Ramloc17 Posted June 21, 2017 at 06:34 PM Report Posted June 21, 2017 at 06:34 PM Well all we can do is wait, i think we have all been nominated for the scholarship. SJTU just hasnt released the nomination list and will just announce results. 1 Quote

Ramloc17 Posted June 21, 2017 at 07:54 PM Report Posted June 21, 2017 at 07:54 PM @Homni well,,,,, i dont know much about that , that would be more expensive....look into renting in some cheaper areas and commuting? Quote
Homni Posted June 21, 2017 at 10:05 PM Report Posted June 21, 2017 at 10:05 PM last option to go far. classes at 8 am, will have to wake up at 5 to get there on time. Quote
uchiha Posted June 22, 2017 at 01:42 AM Report Posted June 22, 2017 at 01:42 AM so, will we still get the accommodation stipend if we decide to live off campus? Quote
Nhq0117 Posted June 22, 2017 at 01:46 AM Report Posted June 22, 2017 at 01:46 AM @uchiha I believe so. From what I've read, it isn't a monthly disbursement of ¥1200RMB. It's a lump sum of a few months given a few times a year. So you'll go out of pocket at first for both on and off campus housing but get a sum of money in a few months for your stipend 1 Quote
uchiha Posted June 22, 2017 at 01:48 AM Report Posted June 22, 2017 at 01:48 AM i wish we had the TaoliYuan at Minhang, it looks decent @Nhq0117 Quote
Tiri Posted June 22, 2017 at 02:12 AM Report Posted June 22, 2017 at 02:12 AM All of these buildings look nice and clean, have normal toilets, are fully furnished, this is a fantastic standard compared to some other universities. Im totally going for that bld 51 with a balcony Quote
rasparker1 Posted June 22, 2017 at 02:13 AM Report Posted June 22, 2017 at 02:13 AM Guys! Aside the scholarship monthly stipend, I am thinking of working part-time to meet other financial needs. In the past, foreign students were not allowed to work alongside studies in China. New rules claims foreign students can take up internships and part-time jobs by getting approval from their University and the Public Security Bureau who will put annotation to the students Resident Permit. The link to this rule is http://lawandborder.com/shanghai-rules-foreign-students-campus-internships/ Since we are all hoping to go to SJTU, I think it will be beneficial to us if we are able to confirm SJTU will allow students who would like to work alongside. Can anyone confirm this? Your response is kindly welcomed. Quote
Tiri Posted June 22, 2017 at 02:29 AM Report Posted June 22, 2017 at 02:29 AM Look guys, we're talking like we got the scholarship already! xd 1 Quote
Homni Posted June 22, 2017 at 02:30 AM Report Posted June 22, 2017 at 02:30 AM Well, they did send an email to some students saying that they changed the status of self-paid students already. So if still under review, prob some kind of scholarship you will receive. Quote
uchiha Posted June 22, 2017 at 02:36 AM Report Posted June 22, 2017 at 02:36 AM Haha, Optimism costs less energy than pessimism. We're getting it !!! @Tiri 1 Quote
Tiri Posted June 22, 2017 at 02:44 AM Report Posted June 22, 2017 at 02:44 AM @Homni it is possible to be nominated and not get the scholarship. This is what I fear, since I had some problems with paperwork, they might reject me on the grounds of application being incomplete Quote
Homni Posted June 22, 2017 at 02:56 AM Report Posted June 22, 2017 at 02:56 AM @Tiri I guess so. I would add that if not get government one, there is a big chance of getting partial from the uni itself. Quote
