BanjoSlice Posted July 11, 2017 at 07:20 AM Report Posted July 11, 2017 at 07:20 AM @rasparker1 last night something was shared on Facebook stating that it's now officially legal for students to study and do part-time work in China. I haven't verified this info but if true then this would be wonderful news. Quote
rasparker1 Posted July 11, 2017 at 07:36 AM Report Posted July 11, 2017 at 07:36 AM @LanceGonza Yeah Lance! I came across a similar info when i was doing a little research about this topic sometime ago. New rules claims foreign students can take up internships and part-time jobs by getting approval from their University and the Public Security Bureau who will put annotation to the students Resident Permit in their passport. The link to this rule is on Quote: 14 http://lawandborder.com/faq-new-china-visa-law/#STUDENTS_AND_INTERNS It would be GREAT if SJTU would allow that. 1 Quote
MaLei Posted July 11, 2017 at 10:04 AM Author Report Posted July 11, 2017 at 10:04 AM Yes, it is possible, the procedure is just as you've mentioned. Unfortunately, some universities are reluctant to give their approval may be they are more willing concerning graduate students Quote
Tiri Posted July 11, 2017 at 10:17 AM Report Posted July 11, 2017 at 10:17 AM Guys, I'm looking at the dorm reservation portal. It doesn't say anywhere if the booking is for the semester or the whole year, and I don't know how much money to prepare. Anyone done this before? Quote
uvas94 Posted July 11, 2017 at 10:25 AM Report Posted July 11, 2017 at 10:25 AM @Tiri You can delay the payment until " 2017/10/15 16:00pm (Beijing Time, GMT+8).". I also get a similar mail as @hamedvafaei and in the mail they say " If you want to delay the payment, please send an email about your application and basic information (student ID number, name, order number) toissc_minhang@sjtu.edu.cn, and the email should be entitled as “payment delay + your student ID + your name”. " So i guess that you can not pay until you get the accommodation money. They say "The subsidy is expected to be send to your bank card in the end of Sep to early Oct. ". 1 Quote
Tiri Posted July 11, 2017 at 10:30 AM Report Posted July 11, 2017 at 10:30 AM @uvas94 do you send that email before or after reservation? I'm afraid something might go wrong since I emailed issc_minhang before and they take a long time to reply. Quote
uvas94 Posted July 11, 2017 at 10:44 AM Report Posted July 11, 2017 at 10:44 AM I emailed them yesterday and today they send me the response. I guess that we have to email after we make the reservation as they ask for order number. 1 Quote
Tiri Posted July 11, 2017 at 10:45 AM Report Posted July 11, 2017 at 10:45 AM Thank you! Still, would be nice to know if they'll kick us out after one semester... Quote
uvas94 Posted July 11, 2017 at 11:13 AM Report Posted July 11, 2017 at 11:13 AM I also would like to stay in building 9 or 10. I guess they will just kick us out after one semester and we will have to find somewhere to leave. Quote
Tiri Posted July 11, 2017 at 11:15 AM Report Posted July 11, 2017 at 11:15 AM Yeah, what I'm afraid is, when they ask us to leave, other dorms will be fully booked already... Quote
Ramloc17 Posted July 11, 2017 at 11:39 AM Report Posted July 11, 2017 at 11:39 AM @Tiri To scholarship students which covers the accommodation subsidies: Hello, according to the accommodation policy of SJTU, you can delay the payment time to 2017/10/15 16:00pm (Beijing Time, GMT+8). Please be sure to sign in your scholarship when you register and check in SJTU. The subsidy is expected to be send to your bank card in the end of Sep to early Oct. Please pay the accommodation fee at the first time when you get the subsidy. The deadline is 2017/10/15 16:00pm (Beijing Time, GMT+8). Once you miss this time, you will violate the accommodation management rules. If you want to delay the payment, please send an email about your application and basic information (student ID number, name, order number) to issc_minhang@sjtu.edu.cn, and the email should be entitled as “payment delay + your student ID + your name”. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. If you have any problem, please contact us. If you are not a scholarship student, or your scholarship not including your accommodation fee, you must pay your accommodation in time. Shanghai Jiao Tong University International Student Service Center Well its unclear how it will work but there is an option available id say book and then mail them, since mailing them before hand doesnt seem to work (I've tried) also keep the money handy just incase i guess 1 Quote
