abcdefg Posted May 16, 2017 at 06:03 AM Report Posted May 16, 2017 at 06:03 AM Saw parts of this live broadcast performance last weekend. A real tour de force. Chinese classical music and dance, folk performances, ethnic minority numbers. Also representative selections from western music, ballet, opera. Some was re-broadcast 重播 yesterday (Monday.) Today I managed to find bits and pieces on the internet. Here's a taste: https://v.qq.com/x/page/m05039h8ha4.html You can find more with a Baidu search, using 一带一路晚会。I never cease to be amazed at how they pull of these lavish productions without a hitch. Big budget and lots of rehearsal time must help. Recommended! 1 Quote

abcdefg Posted May 16, 2017 at 08:07 AM Author Report Posted May 16, 2017 at 08:07 AM Thank, @lips -- Yes, it seems so. My VPN is not fast enough to watch the numbers without way too many pauses and interruptions, but I found the performance indexed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNVTAMLNxGo and here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJHFM7xsPgM Quote

Luxi Posted May 16, 2017 at 08:48 AM Report Posted May 16, 2017 at 08:48 AM Must see that, thanks! I like those spectaculars, nobody does them like China. I've seen quite a few shows lately on Central TV with music numbers fusing traditional Chinese and ethnic minorities music with western classical and modern music. Some of them are really good. A nice change from silly raps and plagiarism. You Tube has been streaming Chinese TV directly. Last week they had a few streams from the actual Silk Road, they weren't very good but it was sort of exiting to receive TV signals coming all the way from those places. It's also encouraging to see increased official participation of Chinese TV in You Tube. Quote

I've also noticed that lots of offical TV channels are now putting their shows directly onto youtube as well as youku (e.g. the new series of 欢乐颂). Quote

I had never seen any before moving here. Now they are something that I think of as an integral part of China. Will surely miss them when I eventually move away. Quote
