What does it really mean

Tatooowner

樂 lè/yuè happiness; music

天 tiān day (and a number of other meanings)

It sounds like a given name to me, but my dictionary tells me 樂天 also means 'carefree, happy-go-lucky'. The calligraphy is nice and the tattoo is well-made. I'm not sure if the 樂 isn't actually a Japanese .

My dictionary says its the other way round, 楽 is the Japanese variant. 樂 is the traditional form of 乐。

Oh, yeah, that's what I meant, but I wrote it a bit unclearly. This tattoo might be the Japanese rather than the Chinese 樂.

Well, first of all thank you for your quick reply. So, the consensus is that it probably is Japanese meaning something along the lines of 'carefree, happy-go-lucky'. Is it the current writing or more of an old style?

And it is also korean? The name of a department store?
