New Members Nickm2055 Posted June 5, 2017 at 03:12 AM New Members Report Share Posted June 5, 2017 at 03:12 AM Does this mean "Choose Happy"? It's something that means a lot to me so I would really appreciate the help
somethingfunny Posted June 6, 2017 at 11:20 AM Report Share Posted June 6, 2017 at 11:20 AM As a verb, "to choose" is more often just 选. This phrase you've provided is a little clunky and without some context its hard to say how well it works. Conclusion: Definitely a bad choice for a tattoo.

Yes, it does. 选择= to choose, to select; choice 快乐 = happiness; happy I don't see the phrase as clunky, As a 4-character phrase 选择快乐 is more balanced than 选快乐 would be and sounds better.
somethingfunny Posted June 6, 2017 at 02:06 PM Report Share Posted June 6, 2017 at 02:06 PM I was thinking in terms of having it as a tattoo.
Lu Posted June 6, 2017 at 02:48 PM Report Share Posted June 6, 2017 at 02:48 PM I'd translate it as 'choose happiness' or 'choice happy'. It's not wrong, but it's a bad idea for a tattoo, in my opinion. If that is what the OP is considering, perhaps just get the phrase in English. Lu Posted June 6, 2017 at 03:34 PM Report Share Posted June 6, 2017 at 03:34 PM You mean the 'tattootranslate.com'? I saw that. I still don't think it's a good choice for a tattoo.
陳德聰 Posted June 6, 2017 at 04:47 PM Report Share Posted June 6, 2017 at 04:47 PM It gives me a "happy choosing" vibe like 生日快樂 or 節日快樂
New Members Nickm2055 Posted June 7, 2017 at 02:50 PM Author New Members Report Share Posted June 7, 2017 at 02:50 PM So what would be the best suggestion? Because I deal with depression and my friend tells me that happiness is a choice and it helps me a lot, so I want it to remind me that we can choose to be happy and not live in sadness
Lu Posted June 7, 2017 at 06:25 PM Report Share Posted June 7, 2017 at 06:25 PM My suggestion would be to get it in English (or your native language, if that's not English), so you can read it. Sorry to hear you're dealing with depression, I hope things get better for you and that the reminder to choose happiness helps.
