tai4ji2x Posted June 10, 2017 at 07:17 PM Report Posted June 10, 2017 at 07:17 PM Why is the number 84 used for so many disinfectant products (across different brands/companies)? I can only think of maybe because it sounds like the Chinese transliteration of Pasteur (巴斯德/巴氏)...? It's also confusing (and potentially dangerous?) that on Taobao, I can't always tell if it's a chlorine (sodium hypochlorite 次氯酸钠) based bleach/cleaner. So I'm thinking that maybe "84" doesn't necessarily indicate actual chemical composition, but simply the FUNCTION of disinfecting... Any insights? Quote
