skylee Posted August 3, 2005 at 01:43 PM Report Posted August 3, 2005 at 01:43 PM I have been staying up late at night to watch the re-run of the TV series 尋秦記. Does anyone else like this series? I know the drama was adapted from a novel of the same name written by 黃易. Has anyone read it? Is the book very different from the drama? Quote
GUYUEHU Posted August 3, 2005 at 09:39 PM Report Posted August 3, 2005 at 09:39 PM it's good but it changes course in the middle and gets a little less happy-go-lucky....if you are interested in other tv series, i'd recommend watching the old school version of Shediao yingxiong zhuan, 射雕英雄传 and reading the book to compare too. zhwj Posted August 4, 2005 at 04:22 AM Report Posted August 4, 2005 at 04:22 AM If you felt that the Sci-Fi conceit in the television version was rushed in the beginning and dropped later, you'll find that Huang Yi dispenses with it almost entirely. The Louis Koo character is much less interesting in the books, I felt. There are a few other changes - with Lao Ai's identity, for example, but I didn't really care for the book after having seen the series first, so I stopped around the second or third volume. I felt the producers could have at least made a token attempt to reconnect the story with time travel - maybe have him get yanked back to the future, only to find he'd rather be in the past or something. I do think they handled Yingzheng's character transformation pretty well. Quote
Chentao Zhang Posted August 4, 2005 at 06:12 AM Report Posted August 4, 2005 at 06:12 AM I like the book better. I haven't seen a film (or TV series) that is better than its book. Quote
skylee Posted February 10, 2006 at 01:24 PM Author Report Posted February 10, 2006 at 01:24 PM Quote
