dougdu Posted March 10, 2006 at 02:25 PM Report Posted March 10, 2006 at 02:25 PM Da jia hao I think I posted my introduction somewhere else, but i'll do it again. My name is Douglas (杜dù 道dào or 小xiǎo 杜dù) I'm 19 years old and I've studied Chinese for 2 years, 二年了 in my highschool. I'm located in the eastern hemisphere of America, Connecticut. I want to pursue my studies in China because I want to become a teacher in China, preferbably an English teacher. I want to make a commitment for the good for all. I'm going to study in BLCU for one year (Sept. 06 - July. 07) It sounds so great. I am applying for B.A. degree. It's a boy dream come true! an every boy's dream come true studying Chinese. lizbitz Posted March 10, 2006 at 06:12 PM Report Posted March 10, 2006 at 06:12 PM I started a new thread for those of you who would like to meet, hopefully before classes start. I don't know how to put the link in this message but the new thread is titled "Let's meet march 06" under universities. Quote
fengchen83 Posted March 12, 2006 at 02:31 PM Report Posted March 12, 2006 at 02:31 PM -Name: Feng Chen -Age: 23 -From: the Netherlands, Amsterdam -Course: I'm going for the 6 weeks summercourse starting in July. (I would like to go for a much longer period, but unfortunately I'm not able to because of my college education. I will take this upcoming journey as a quick taste of the chinese culture, which hopefully will make me long for more.) -Why: My parents are from the province Zheijang and they have only taught me the dialect which is spoken over there. This means that I'm mainly able to communicate with my relatives. I would like to make a change in this situation. (and I love food!) Are there any other summercourse students? Quote
ckc_ucl Posted April 18, 2006 at 10:09 AM Report Posted April 18, 2006 at 10:09 AM Ni hao fellow Chinaphiles all over the world! My name is Charlene (Xue3 Lin1), I'm 23, from London, England & will be attending BLCU for the Fall semester on an intensive course (Level C). I'd just like to thank everyone who has contributed to these threads for all their priceless guidance on applying to BLCU, accomdation and student life in general. In particular, Puja & Amandamgu for making me realise that it isn't necessary to use a company like WLE to facilitate my trip and for saving me £££ that can be better spent on travelling once I'm in China! It'd be great to meet up with those of you that are still around when I arrive - your invaluable advice has kept me up 'til the wee hours hopping from thread to thread researching all the best options! Anybody else out there arriving in September '06? I think an orientation drink is in order! Quote
dougdu Posted April 19, 2006 at 12:36 AM Report Posted April 19, 2006 at 12:36 AM Nin hao, ckc_ucl, I'll be arriving in China in Aug. 06 for BLCU. A month before Sept so I can grasp the language better, and give me a head-start for the university. See in you in Sept at the orientation conference. I'll be another American amongst the thousands.
