Angelina Posted July 5, 2017 at 04:29 AM Report Posted July 5, 2017 at 04:29 AM Quote So I had to accept agency services as the time already is running out. I do not think this is a good idea. You can always try a different Chinese embassy. This depends on how far is the next Chinese embassy, some countries are smaller and it is takes only a couple of hours to cross the border, some countries are bigger and have many Chinese diplomatic representative offices. We always complain how there is too much corruption at our countries and we want to move to a better country where there is rule of law, human rights are respected and so on. Think about why you want to study abroad. Quote
Popular Post hkdude Posted July 5, 2017 at 04:51 AM Author Popular Post Report Posted July 5, 2017 at 04:51 AM @Angelina Ohh. Thank you for your advice which I don't find helpful at all. Also suggestion to apply to another embassy is totally wrong because of immigration policy of China which permits applying for visa only in the home countries.(I've contacted a few embassies before and was turned down.) And don't need to trying to educate me about the poor human right records and corruption of certain countries. I'm not an immature kid who knows little about life and I'm well aware about what's like in China. and many countries around the globe. So I've prepared myself to challenges which I'm willing to take because I have had to overcome hell a lot before, and I have the specific goal which I'm trying to achieve. Therefore, your suggestion to reconsider my desire to study abroad is totally inappropriate. If you are unable to give a constructive advice, please, just pass by. 11 Quote

hkdude Posted July 21, 2017 at 03:33 PM Author Report Posted July 21, 2017 at 03:33 PM Thanks everyone for input. Got my visa approved. The agency somehow sorted out this problem through the connections in the embassy. Hurray! 4 Quote
陳德聰 Posted July 21, 2017 at 06:00 PM Report Posted July 21, 2017 at 06:00 PM That's great to hear! I know it's not helpful after the fact, but just for anecdote's sake: applying for a visa to China while in Canada is virtually always done through a registered third party agency and not through the Chinese consulate/embassy. 1 Quote
hkdude Posted July 21, 2017 at 06:49 PM Author Report Posted July 21, 2017 at 06:49 PM @陳德聰 Someone from France has told me about that as well. It has become de-facto "Standard" Policy. anyway the agency services costed me less than a half of the visa itself. still I can't believe I made it! 3 Quote

ChTTay Posted July 22, 2017 at 04:05 AM Report Posted July 22, 2017 at 04:05 AM Also in the UK it is standard. Also, Chinese people wanting to go to the UK have to do the same thing. There's an official agency you need to go to thatdo all the application leg work then the actual application is sent to an office of British people for them to accept or deny it. Quote

Hard to say without knowing where the OP is and what he's paid all in, but I suspect there's even more money landing in someone's pocket than there should be. Quote
ChTTay Posted July 27, 2017 at 03:18 PM Report Posted July 27, 2017 at 03:18 PM The UK official visa centre application fees are 36/48/54 GBP. That's normal/express/postal. Yeah, the 150 dollar fee seems crazy. Need to know if it was a random agent or the official visa centre. If it's the visa centre, could it be reciprocal pricing? Perhaps the USA charges a big fee for Chinese people? I really don't know... My friend had to pay 350 pounds for 2 visas recently. It was a normal postal service to cover a 7 week stay in China. Mad. Minotaur Posted July 31, 2017 at 01:38 PM Report Posted July 31, 2017 at 01:38 PM Wait, when I applied for my visa I also paid a few hundreds dollars application fee. And here is Australia?!? https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa/Fees Quote
