Janghyeok Posted July 3, 2017 at 08:55 PM Report Share Posted July 3, 2017 at 08:55 PM Hi. I'll be having Chinese lessons soon and my teacher doesn't speak my first language so it'll be impossible for her to pronounce my name. I read that a lot of people pick Chinese names for themselves to avoid awkward situations like this. I kind of want a name that's easy to pronounce and doesn't take a lot of strokes. I just want to know if you think any of these names sound natural/good or if they are all cringy/weird/edgy Or if any of the characters has a bad meaning/is a slang for something bad. I kinda want to stick to one name once I pick it. I've read a little about Chinese surnames and given names but I'm not sure if I get it 100% (I wrote the surname first then two characters for the given name) (Also sorry for my English as it's not my first language) 1. 白徐龙 2. 白龙凤 2. 白安龙 3. 白八月 4. 徐龙凤 5. 李白凤 As you have noticed, I have a few characters that I like, I'm just not sure in what order to put them so they sound good. I'm open to any suggestions.
skylee Posted July 4, 2017 at 01:36 PM Report Share Posted July 4, 2017 at 01:36 PM I think #3 is OK if August means something to you. #2 and #4 are laughable. The rest are not OK either.
Janghyeok Posted July 4, 2017 at 03:29 PM Author Report Share Posted July 4, 2017 at 03:29 PM My birthday is in August. But I think 白 and 八 sound too similar, especially since my pronunciation isn't that good, so it might sound like I'm repeating myself. Do you have any suggestions? I have no idea how to "create" a natural name. Do I just steal someone's name?

Minotaur Posted July 30, 2017 at 06:26 AM Report Share Posted July 30, 2017 at 06:26 AM If you like the idea of inserting your birth month into your name, I recommend 白正秋,since 正秋 is the classic name of August. 龙凤 sounds a bit weird, others are fine.
