markpete Posted July 13, 2017 at 04:10 AM Report Posted July 13, 2017 at 04:10 AM Hi, all. Does anyone know of a good app for listening to mp3s that let's you skip backwards by 5 seconds or 10 seconds (or maybe even a customizable length of time)? I've been using the Music Remix app on my Android phone, but sometimes it skips around rather weirdly, so I thought there might be something better out there. Thanks, Mark PS - I think maybe this has been addressed before-- apologies if so, just couldn't find it. Quote
Yadang Posted July 13, 2017 at 04:51 AM Report Posted July 13, 2017 at 04:51 AM You might try WorkAudioBook (thread). It doesn't let you skip backwards by 5 or 10 seconds as such, but instead it divides the audio into phrases and so you can skip to the beginning of the current phrase your working on. Works well on spoken media. 1 Quote
Shelley Posted July 13, 2017 at 11:17 AM Report Posted July 13, 2017 at 11:17 AM VLC is a very good all round media player with a rewind replay function, on my version long press on Vol+ is forward and Vol- is rewind as much as you want. 2 Quote

Flickserve Posted July 14, 2017 at 05:20 AM Report Posted July 14, 2017 at 05:20 AM VLC on my android doesn't have such a function which is a pity. Quote
Shelley Posted July 14, 2017 at 09:23 AM Report Posted July 14, 2017 at 09:23 AM Looking at the latest version, it has on screen controls. I might upgrade as the Vol+ , Vol- can be hit and miss. Quote
大肚男 Posted July 14, 2017 at 10:27 AM Report Posted July 14, 2017 at 10:27 AM I have been using AB audio repeat player.which has that function It's free, and fits the bill Quote
歐博思 Posted July 16, 2017 at 01:38 AM Report Posted July 16, 2017 at 01:38 AM VLC, on PC at least, definitely has the exact features you want, in fact you can customize three (maybe four I can't remember) different time lengths by which to skip forward or back. Quote
New Members avren Posted July 16, 2017 at 03:14 PM New Members Report Posted July 16, 2017 at 03:14 PM Yup, an app that does exactly what you're looking for, word-for-word: Smart Repeat Free (or Smart Repeat if you want to pay for some small non-essential features, which I have done because it is a great app!) Flickserve Posted August 29, 2017 at 02:47 AM Report Posted August 29, 2017 at 02:47 AM On android, I could not figure out if vlc has this function. Smart repeat is not on google play. I found another called Repeat Player which has a very simple interface. You can press a button which will rewind 5seconds of your audio. You can alter the length of time of rewind if you so wish. It is free. Quote
mlescano Posted August 29, 2017 at 01:59 PM Report Posted August 29, 2017 at 01:59 PM Just wanted to second the WorkAudioBook recommendation. It's available for PC and Android. I'm using it a lot for intensive listening practice. I just wish it was available for MacOS or iOS, because my PC uses a lot of power. Quote
hoshinoumi Posted August 30, 2017 at 06:43 PM Report Posted August 30, 2017 at 06:43 PM I use an Android app called "smart audiobook player" for listening to books and it has 4 quite convenient buttons for rewinding or fast forwarding 10 seconds or 1 minute. 1 Quote
New Members kylemeko Posted August 31, 2017 at 08:33 PM New Members Report Posted August 31, 2017 at 08:33 PM I also use Smart Audiobook Play for android. It has a 10 second rewind and 1 minute rewind buttons which come as the default. But you can change them to whatever you want. Quote

Flickserve Posted September 1, 2017 at 04:09 PM Report Posted September 1, 2017 at 04:09 PM Are there any video players for android that would have the same features? VLC on android doesn't have this feature. Quote
Flickserve Posted October 11, 2017 at 05:36 PM Report Posted October 11, 2017 at 05:36 PM I found out that VLC on android has a swipe feature. Just play your video and swipe the screen to the left for a quick rewind. Quote
