大块头 Posted September 2, 2017 at 02:28 PM Report Posted September 2, 2017 at 02:28 PM My opinion: You shouldn't get a tattoo in a language you don't understand. If you do get the tattoo, make sure the tattoo artist at least understands Chinese. We see many horrible tattoos here that were done by a tattoo artist copying characters from the internet. 2 Quote

Shelley Posted September 3, 2017 at 03:42 PM Report Posted September 3, 2017 at 03:42 PM 1 hour ago, Cake said: How about 不好想法 Not fair , how would you feel if the OP actually did it thinking it was a genuine suggestion? although I also agree it not a good idea. OP What is the point of having a tattoo that is a message you want to share with people but the majority of the people you know don't speak chinese. Have it done in your own language then the people that count can read it. Using chinese characters does not impart any kind of "magic power" to the words or make it any more special than in your own language. Please think carefully before you do this. What if the tattoo artist knows nothing about chinese characters and does a terrible job of the actual tattoo, This is a real possibility and I have seen the results of many botched tattoos. Think before you ink and think again and again. 2 Quote
xuexiansheng Posted September 5, 2017 at 06:31 AM Report Posted September 5, 2017 at 06:31 AM @大块头I second this opinion. Before you do anything rash that will be on your body for the rest of your life, please look at the website Hanzi Smatter. After years of study and understanding the language and you can appreciate the difference between the laughable messes that people regularly get printed on their body and real calligraphy, then you can choose something that is meaningful to you and pleasing to the eye. Good luck! 1 Quote
