The tone of your post gave me the impression that you thought the topic was too complex for other forum members, and for that reason not worth discussing. Quite a lot has been said on this moderately long thread, and it seemed that you were dismissing the discussion. It now seems that this was not your intention. I think your example with 呢 is slightly marginal -- normally one would expect a comma after it. But it's acting as a topic specifier here, it's not even in a separate clause, so I take your point and stand corrected (one of those errors and failings that could have been avoided with hindsight, you're perhaps suggesting?) I didn't claim that 了 was always sentence-final. Quote
