Lwd Posted September 28, 2017 at 07:00 AM Report Share Posted September 28, 2017 at 07:00 AM Could somebody recommend me liquid laundry detergent for coloured clothes, that I can buy in China? (Beijing to be exact, in case that makes a difference). I was using Tide but I suspect it is the reason for some horrible skin rash & hives, so I am looking for something new. The main problem I have is that I cannot read the packages of the detergents, so I don't know which one is for coloured clothes and which one for white. It would be great if you could even share a photo of the one I could try, although I can understand that that is too much to ask. Nevertheless, some tips on how to find it in the supermarket would be great (because just some name in Chinese characters would make it almost impossible for me to find it). Thanks for any replies. Jim Posted September 28, 2017 at 11:14 AM Report Share Posted September 28, 2017 at 11:14 AM We use this: https://item.jd.com/1039797.html Can't claim to be much of an expert launderer but doesn't seem to make anything run and no-one's had a skin reaction. Use it for whites and coloureds.
abcdefg Posted September 29, 2017 at 02:59 AM Report Share Posted September 29, 2017 at 02:59 AM @Lwd-- Been trying to figure out how to help you, but have come up empty. I use (plain) Tide without any adverse skin reactions, but I do understand the problem. The culprit in these allergic reactions is most often the scent ingredient. (Sometimes coloring ingredients if there are any.) In shopping for a replacement I would look for one without any scent ingredients. In Chinese these are called 香料。 As a practical matter, I would look for detergent without any pictures of flowering plants on the label. That will narrow it down some. They are often scented with lavender 笋衣草。 So obviously avoid this and its bretheren: Perhaps you could ask the shop assistant to point you to a brand that has no scent. You could print this out and show it to her. (Might help and might not. These ladies are often intent on just selling their own products because they earn commission. They are not neutral at all.) 我要买不加香料的洗衣液。我是过敏的。 I looked around on the Chinese internet but that didn't help much. Next time I go to the store 超市, I'll peruse the laundry soap shelves on your behalf. 1

I went to Carrefour and WalMart yesterday. Looked at laundry soap on your behalf. Talked it over with the ladies who work in that department. Both said your best bet was to buy laundry soap designed for young children since it is more gentle. Here are some possibilities that I found. (They all cost more than ordinary laundry soap for normal adults.) None are completely unscented. This one is popular. Less-convenient bulk packaging (right) costs a little less. The last one, white container above right, "Elsker" brand, was advertised as being "herbal" and "organic" though I'm not sure what that actually means. 1
antony Posted October 6, 2017 at 05:53 AM Report Share Posted October 6, 2017 at 05:53 AM Go to Carrefour or Walmart, there you can buy Ariel specifically for coloured clothes. It’s about the same price as Chinese brands. Not sure how to translate Ariel into Chinese. 阿里尔 maybe, but I I doubt it. The packaging looks the same as western Ariel though.

Lwd Posted October 11, 2017 at 08:08 AM Author Report Share Posted October 11, 2017 at 08:08 AM Wow abcdefg , thank you so much for the effort you put into this! I actually already went to a supermarket with the line you provided, but then I couldn't find somebody to ask it to. So in the end I bought what Jim recommended. So far I haven't experienced anything weird. But it's nice to have some extra options available. Thanks everybody for your help!
