Vase-name and surname on the inscription

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hello,

I would like to enquire about a vase my grandaparent received during a visit to PRC -  in the 70/80( he doesn't remember so clearly now).  After reading the letters im thinking it is his name and surname on the inscription Janusz Glowacki - the numer of characters would match. As requested - for further information, if it's not name related he was middle-hierarchy dignitary - namely he was the chief of the Polish Railway for some years(his highest rank).

More details below, the links are in polish language.

Thank you for your help.

Sorry, it just tells us what's pictured on the vase: phoenix dancing around peonies. This is the normal type of inscription on Chinese art -- some elegant verse describing the scene.

Since inscriptions on ceramics are fired on, it's usually impractical to personalize them on short notice. If there's a name on the vase -- and you're not showing one -- it would usually be the artist's.
